Iman Learning Center Director has Dinner with the Governor
On October 3rd, Mrs. Mimi Hassanein was invited to the Governors house in Annapolis Maryland as well as other invited guests for a dinner event. During this rare opportunity Mrs. Hassanein spoke with the Governor of Maryland about the growing diversity in the families in Germantown Maryland. In addition

she shared with him her personal experiences at Kids Town Learning Center and Iman Learning Center about how we allow parents to share their cultural diversity through stories, arts and crafts, and food with the children that attend Kids Town and Iman. For example the children learned about Ramadan since many of their classmates celebrate that holiday. The children made tissue paper lanterns and heard the story book " Zaki's First Ramadan". The Muslim families that attend the Centers are bringing in sweet treats on Friday October 12th to Celebrate their holiday Eid Al-Fitr. Kids Town and Iman also include other holidays and cultures such as Hanaukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Cinco De Mayo, Chinese New Year and many more.

"Children Learn What They Live..."-By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph. d

(Quoted directly from the "Children model what they see. What will your kids learn to be?")

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.

If children live with hospitality, they learn to fight.

If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.

If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.

If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.

If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.

If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.

BUT...

If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.

If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.

If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.

If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.

If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.

If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.

If children live with honesty, they learn justice.

If children live with fairness, they learn justice.

If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.

If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.

If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

With What is your child living?
